MSK Covertech Group celebrates its 50th anniversary

Founded in 1975 by Reiner Hannen, the MSK Covertech Group is celebrating its 50th anniversary. For years, this international mechanical engineering company – headquartered in Kleve, Germany, with international locations in Hungary, the United States, France, and China – has been expanding. The family-owned business, which employs approximately 600 people, has been led by Christina and Linda Hannen as Managing Partners since 2013.

50 Years of high-tech packaging machinery manufacturing

For 50 years, MSK has been shaping the market as a technology leader through continuous innovation, quality, and reliability, with the goal of automating the production processes of industrial companies in the transport packaging sector. MSK is a premier supplier of cold-end solutions, packaging machines, and intralogistics – not only in the glass industry. Renowned corporations from a wide range of industries are part of its loyal customer base. The trust placed in MSK by leading brand manufacturers confirms its expertise: 80% of MSK’s revenue comes from repeat business with long-standing customers.

Innovation at the cutting edge – From Craft Business to Global Brand

“The challenges our customers face are often the source of our innovations,” states President and company founder Reiner Hannen. Innovation has shaped MSK’s entire history since its founding. It all began with the development, manufacturing, and sales of our own hand shrink guns. Over the years, the portfolio expanded to include semi- and fully automatic packaging machines for securing palletized loads with film, all the way to complete Cold Ends in the glass industry. A global brand in the packaging industry was born – MSK. “As a family-run company, innovation is a strategic priority for us. We are currently focusing on the integration of software and artificial intelligence: We are working on solutions that enable an even higher level of automation, predictive maintenance, and flexibility for our customers – solutions that independently detect errors and provide solution-oriented instructions to the operator,” explains Linda Hannen, Managing Partner at MSK.

A stable and future-proof family-run company

The key to success lies in an entrepreneur who, from the very beginning, built a company and developed product ideas with vision, courage, unyielding diligence, and willpower. The first MSK products bear the strong signature of engineer Reiner Hannen. With uncompromising dedication and high standards, he has driven them to where they stand today: in many cases, world-class. In 2007, Christina Hannen joined the executive management of the MSK Group. Since 2011, the second generation has also been part of the executive management with daughter Linda Hannen. With tireless dedication and forward-looking investments, the Hannen family transformed the small craft-based business into an international industrial company, which today operates with around 600 employees at five locations. Over the years, Christina and Linda Hannen built a strong international management team. As managing partners, they continue to lay the foundation – with vision and strategy – for investments, the further development of the product portfolio, and international human resources management across the entire MSK Group.

Responsibility for employees and the environment

Responsibility toward employees and the environment is a central component of MSK’s corporate philosophy. Successful human resource management and the conservation of natural resources play a key role at MSK. MSK has established resource-saving development priorities for its products and the company. The MSK sustainability pledge is reflected in the guiding principle “savings through technology”. This is realized through the continuous development of machine and automation solutions that are as energy-efficient and resource-conserving as possible, in order to offer customers added value in both their economic and sustainability goals. “As owners, we stand for integrity, a passion for excellence, and continuity through long-term decision-making. Through our actions, we combine the cutting-edge with the tried-and-tested. Our corporate culture is characterized by openness, transparency, and autonomy. This way, we create sustainable corporate values in preparation for the future challenges,” says Christina Hannen, Managing Partner.

Anniversary celebrations

The 50th anniversary celebrations will take place in Kleve in June 2026. Plans include a celebration with guests from the business and political communities, as well as an open house for the public. In addition to demonstrations of high-performance machines in the Kleve production facilities, an overview of the group’s international focus, and key milestones in the company’s history, MSK will also showcase itself as an innovative employer in the region, offering sustainable and diverse job and career opportunities.
